The Diabetes Inpatient Study Group (DISG) is an international, multi-professional collaborative network dedicated to advancing and transforming inpatient diabetes care.

Established in September 2025 during the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Conference, DISG serves as a reference group of the EASD, championing high-quality, evidence-based and consensus-driven practice.

Our mission is to is to influence health systems to invest in evidence-based, cost-saving service improvements that deliver better outcomes for people with diabetes receiving elective or emergency inpatient surgical or medical diabetes care.

Through research, innovation, audit, advocacy and engagement with people with diabetes, we aim to shape national and international best practice, to drive continuous improvement to elevate standards of inpatient diabetes care.

The strong enthusiasm within the multiprofessional inpatient diabetes community and DISG’s rapidly growing membership reflect the urgency and importance of this work.
